No Man’s Sky’s Cosmos update has received a substantial corrective patch. Version 7.01 addresses problems involving station decoration, salvage interactions, multiplayer rewards and corvettes, alongside several crashes. The important change for returning players is not another list of Cosmos features: it is that tasks disrupted by the first release now have specific fixes to check. Hello Games announced the patch as live on Steam, with other platforms to follow.

A station interior in the Cosmos update.

Station purchases and decoration have targeted fixes

Some station exterior decorations could fail to unlock correctly after purchase. Patch 7.01 addresses that problem, along with disappearing decoration in Korvax-controlled stations and geometry issues involving new base parts. Players who encountered one of those failures should check the updated build before spending more resources trying to solve it through another purchase.

The patch also changes some station parts to unlock with salvaged materials. That is a resource requirement worth checking in the current menu, rather than assuming every part uses the same method as before. Other station corrections concern stairs, the platform around the core and collision problems that could cause a player to fall out of a station.

Salvage interactions should be easier to complete

Hello Games fixes a case where the tractor beam’s Vent Cargo button could not be used. The same patch addresses physics problems with salvageable objects and lingering markers after salvage missions. These are specific interaction and state problems; they do not mean that all salvage activities now have different rewards or a newly simplified solution.

Space hulk meltdown messaging has also been improved, with additional visual effects around important pieces. Clearer warnings can help a player understand what is happening, but they should not be read as a promise that the hazard has been removed. The patch separately corrects the swapped icons for Pathogen Sacs and Viral Hearts, reducing another source of confusion when identifying rewards or materials.

Multiplayer rewards and corvette access are corrected

Space exploration in No Man's Sky: Cosmos.

Players completing a space hulk or infested outpost together can now both claim the rare items. That is a meaningful distinction for a group that previously found one participant unable to receive the expected reward. It does not justify assuming that every activity in the game has adopted a new universal loot-sharing system.

Corvette fixes include a problem that could prevent entry into another player’s vessel. Another correction stops a docked corvette from beginning to fly after reloading a save at a deep-space outpost. Those problems affect cooperation and the continuity of a session. A group testing them should ensure its participants are on compatible updated builds before deciding whether a particular fault remains.

The system map and alliance labels provide clearer information

The current galaxy is now displayed on the star system map, and alliance names are shown there as well. Hello Games also corrects alliance names in the teleporter interface and improves several map popups. These changes are useful when a player is trying to understand where a destination belongs, especially across a collection of stations and bases.

Some completed space objects remain on the map so they can be revisited where appropriate. Planet markers also use a consistent icon between the system map and the discovery page. The patch addresses unclear states when several players attempt to claim the same station, but that is not a statement that several competing claims will all become valid ownership.

Spacewalking receives camera and collision work

A planetary landing in the Cosmos update.

Several fixes concern moving into and out of spacewalking, using Photo Mode during a spacewalk and travelling around large objects such as freighters or frigates. The third-person camera with a weapon drawn is adjusted to more closely match the camera without a weapon. First-person spacewalking also receives camera corrections.

Other fixes concern gravity near derelict freighters, leaving a freighter after completing its exploration, and accidentally falling through the ship. These are separate problems: the camera may point in the wrong direction even when movement works, while a collision error can let the character pass through a surface. A useful bug report should identify the ship, the action being performed and whether the player used the first-person or third-person view.

Platform rollout and crash fixes need to be read together

The release log lists crash repairs involving audio management, base-image downloads, Xeno Arena battles and inventory rendering. It also identifies a hang affecting PS5 users running the PS4 version. That is a version-specific statement, not a claim that every PS5 configuration suffers the same problem.

Hello Games initially announced 7.01 on Steam and said other platforms would receive it as soon as possible. Players on those platforms should check their installed version and later rollout notices. The patch provides concrete reasons to retry affected Cosmos activities, while the deployment distinction prevents a console player from expecting a repair before their version has received it.
