Warcraft III: Reforged has a new campaign, Forsaken Kingdom, following the Forsaken from the ruins of Lordaeron toward the establishment of the Undercity. Blizzard makes an important purchasing distinction: the campaign is a separate addition, while the Definitive Edition improvements are available at no extra cost to players who already have access to Reforged. The two arrive together, but they are not the same entitlement.

The story follows the Forsaken after the Scourge
Forsaken Kingdom focuses on people who break free from the Scourge and try to establish a future in the remains of their former kingdom. Sylvanas Windrunner is among the leaders named in Blizzard’s introduction. The setting connects the aftermath of Lordaeron’s fall with the period leading into World of Warcraft, rather than retelling an unrelated campaign under a new title.
The announced package contains a prologue and three campaign chapters. Those are the publisher’s content categories, not confirmation that the whole adventure consists of only three playable missions. A chapter count cannot be converted into a reliable completion time without knowing its mission structure. The same announcement also identifies a neutral Forsaken Paladin hero unit.
Existing owners need the campaign, not another base game
A player who owns Warcraft III: Reforged can add Forsaken Kingdom to that existing game. A newcomer can choose the bundle containing both Reforged and the new campaign. These are different starting points, so checking the library before purchasing is useful. An owner does not need to assume that a bundle is the only way to access the new story.
The base game is required to play Forsaken Kingdom. Buying an item described as the campaign should therefore not be confused with acquiring the underlying game as well. The combination package exists for that purpose. The exact store listing should make the included products clear, particularly for players returning after a long break with several Blizzard products on the same account.
The Definitive Edition changes are a separate layer

Blizzard describes performance and graphical improvements in the Definitive Edition update. Those changes are available without an additional charge to people who already have access to Reforged. They should not be presented as features that can only be obtained by buying the new campaign.
This distinction also helps interpret reactions to the release. A report about how an updated old mission performs is not necessarily a report about Forsaken Kingdom‘s new missions. Equally, a player can be interested in the new story while wanting to test the free technical update first. The announcement establishes that both layers exist; it does not prove an identical performance result on every PC.
The larger collection includes another game’s products
The Warcraft Forever Collection combines Reforged and Forsaken Kingdom with products for World of Warcraft: Forever. Blizzard also lists game time and additional in-game benefits in that collection. It is therefore broader than the purchase needed simply to play the new real-time strategy campaign.
Some benefits apply to the specific World of Warcraft account used for the purchase, and the listed in-game items are not available in WoW Classic games. Those conditions matter to a buyer interested in the collection’s extras. They are not additional story chapters for Warcraft III. A player focused only on the RTS should compare the smaller campaign or combo options with the collection rather than assume all the extras belong to the same game.
Connection requirements are stated explicitly

The campaign requires an internet connection, a Battle.net account and the Battle.net desktop application. Blizzard separately states that World of Warcraft, including Forever, requires a subscription or game time. Those requirements should not be merged into a claim that the Warcraft III campaign itself needs a continuing World of Warcraft subscription.
For a returning player, the practical preparation is to confirm account access, update Reforged and identify the correct campaign product. Players planning to use a PC without an internet connection should check those requirements before buying the campaign. A single-player story can still require an account and an online launcher. Blizzard lists these requirements on the product page alongside the base-game requirement.
The campaign connects Lordaeron with the rise of the Undercity
The premise offers a concrete reason to revisit Warcraft III: a campaign centred on the Forsaken’s emergence, with its own prologue, chapters and named hero addition. Lordaeron is more than a familiar location in this story. Its ruined kingdom is the starting point for the group that will establish the Undercity, connecting the campaign with an important part of World of Warcraft’s setting.
The purchasing decision is equally concrete. Existing Reforged owners can distinguish the paid story from the free technical improvements, while newcomers have a combined option. That is more useful than describing every product in the announcement as one mandatory expansion. Forsaken Kingdom is the new campaign; Definitive Edition is the accompanying update; the larger collection adds products for a different Warcraft experience.
