Ground Branch is one of those great shooters that you will see in our article with a link to telegram, where you will find a bunch of free games on Shared Steam Accounts VP. Emphasis on realism, many advanced mechanics and developers’ loyalty to their craft. The game recently received a global update, and it’s time to take another look at the gameplay.

Ground Branch is the ultimate tactical first-person shooter that delivers extreme emotion and character and weapon customization. Players battle it out like a true art, choosing between two opposing factions: the highly skilled CIA Special Assault Team and the elite Special Operations unit known as SAC/SOG. The gameplay revolves around realism, complex physics, and tactical combat, requiring players to constantly plan their every move while navigating the complexities of tactical warfare. Success depends on the player’s ability to think critically, find a balance in active situations, and minimize mistakes.

Straight to the point: Ground Branch is a good example of how you can implement completely old mechanics in your own way and so that it is interesting. To be honest, the weapon customization options here are not as wide as in Call of Duty, Payday and especially Tarkov. However, among other shooters, the mechanics of fine-tuning the position of each attachment on the weapon stand out. Such mechanics are practically not found in games – perhaps only another indie project comes to mind. This gives even more personalization, more flexibility and the feeling that you are customizing the weapon yourself and for yourself.

Change the barrel, cover – in exchange for a customization mechanic or a large number of places to install attachments. But what is truly unique is the equipment customization. As befits a realistic tactical shooter, Ground Branch has detailed character customization: helmets, equipment, clothing, accessories. You can change the color of the equipment, choose patches, including uploading your own. The developers go even further – additional equipment is hung on the vests. Unloading vests in the game are customized for bags with magazines, grenades, binoculars and a penetrating charge. In terms of customization, the authors of the project give the player the greatest possible freedom.

Customization of mechanics in Ground Branch

Ground Branch gameplay is based on exceptional tactics and squad coherence, as in Squad, Radio Not and other tactical shooters. Each player is advised to choose a role and adhere to the corresponding gameplay.

The game does not force – it only gives opportunities. Arm yourself with a rifle and storm the enemy alone every time, but with experience you will understand that in one situation it is still more advantageous to cover the team from afar, and in another – to quietly flank and squeeze the enemy from two sides.

Surely you noticed that the character does not hold the weapon in front of him all the time. This is another realistic component of Ground Branch. When the weapon is ready, the character spends stamina, and in addition, also points the barrel towards the allies, which is definitely not good. The mouse wheel adjusts the position of the weapon in front of you – upper and lower readiness. No less attention is paid to the correct implementation of devices. Using optics, you can adjust the magnification and brightness of the aiming grid. Of course, you can use several sights at once – this is useful, for example, when working with a night vision device. In Ground Branch, unlike other shooters, attention is paid to the focusing of the NVG. So, you cannot clearly see objects nearby, so the use of mechanical or optical sights is simply impossible.

But a prudently installed collimator or laser will help you stay combat-ready. By the way, several operating modes are implemented for tactical units: visible laser, infrared laser and infrared flashlight. And a long barrel or silencer creates an obstacle for light and is brightly illuminated, distracting the player. And, as befits a realistic shooter, realistic ballistics are worked out here. The bullet flies from the barrel – the lower its speed, the more noticeable its fall at a distance. A rather interesting feature of Ground Branch is a real “first person”. The camera is at the level of the character’s eyes, walking, shooting, reloading look as if the player saw it in reality. In other games, for effect, the weapon is higher, and the first-person animations are embellished more.

Gameplay Prospects in Ground Branch

Almost two years ago we said that the game lacked gameplay. Sure, you can play out a lot of scenarios with bots and other players. If you’re lucky enough to find a great team, Ground Branch could actually become a sort of airsoft simulator.

However, the average player will be bored for now: play around with customization, clear a couple of locations from not-so-smart bots, look at PvP modes and have time to apply for a refund. There are no quests, progression or story missions yet, and they will not appear anytime soon. For hardcore players, the game, on the contrary, can become something new, an interesting experiment. What kind? Apparently, the same as it became for the creators themselves. The development has been carried out by four authors for more than 10 years. One of them is the developer of the original Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon. Now he and the team want to create that very tactical shooter without compromises – the way it was done in the late nineties and noughties. What do you think about Ground Branch? Do you share the enthusiasm of the developers or do you think that the project is not destined to “take off”? Write in the comments.

Ground Branch system requirements

To run Ground Branch successfully on PC, your system should have at least 8 GB of RAM and at least 30 GB of free disk space. The minimum graphics card required is a Radeon HD 7850, but for a better gaming experience, the developer highly recommends upgrading to a GeForce GTX 1070. In terms of processor, a Core i5-2500K is a good choice, but if you want to play comfortably at higher settings and enjoy smoother and more interesting gameplay, we recommend opting for a Core i7-9700K or even more powerful option.
